Identify the actual booking product
Two accommodation search results for the same property can lead to different booking routes. On its Australian ShopBack listing, Booking.com excludes Booking.basic reservations and purchases made on external partner pages. It also excludes flights and flight-and-hotel packages. A result appearing in a Booking.com search is not by itself evidence that the completed booking falls in an eligible category.
Expedia lists hotels alongside other travel categories, with separate conditions for packages and other products. Treat the reservation type shown at checkout as decisive, not the broad travel label on a search page. For a domestic stay in Adelaide or an international hotel, write down the room type, dates, guest count and reservation channel before comparing cashback. If checkout redirects to a different supplier, go back to the merchant terms rather than assuming the original click still qualifies.
Separate the room rate from the receipt
Booking.com's checked listing excludes fees, taxes, service charges, booking fees and spending beyond the room rate, such as dining or spa services. Protect the reservation path and allow for changes
